Q: I need to increase the speed of my laser printer. Would adding memory accomplish this? |
|
A: Not really. Adding memory will increase the number of pages the printer can store in it’s buffer. It will also allow your printer to print more complex graphics, but it won’t really increase the speed at which it prints. You’ll need to buy a faster printer. |

| POPUP
KILLER |
| In our last issue, we mentioned a nifty little utility called
Popup Killer which shuts down those annoying ad windows that pop up while you browse the web. Unfortunately, the author of that utility no longer has it available on his web site. So, we built our own version of a
Popup Killer that you can download. Request document W209027 for details. |

Q: Is there any way to easily set windows next to each other – like one on top of the other – without having to manually size them? |
|
A: Yes. This is a real cool trick we teach in our class. Let’s say you have Word and Excel open. Click on the Word icon that’s sitting on your Windows TaskBar. Now, hold down the
CTRL key and click on Excel. Right-click on either one of them, and select
Tile Vertically. You can also tile horizontally. Enjoy!

|
A: Absolutely. Click on Tools >
AutoCorrect. Then click on the AutoFormat As You Type tab. Look for the

Q: My computer is making a loud noise, like a grinder. It still works fine, but what should I do? |
|
A: You should have a PC technician look at your system
immediately. I would suggest leaving it off until you can get it looked at. Since the PC still works, it’s probably only a bad cooling fan – which isn’t critical. However, if one of your fans is dead, your system could overheat if left on too long. The good news is that it’s an inexpensive repair. For details, request document

Q: I just purchased a used computer, and on it, there are three drive letters (C, D, and E) but only one physical hard drive. Why is it set up this way? |
|
A: There could be several reasons. Not long ago, Windows could only use 4 GB drive “partitions” so that’s probably why your drive is broken up. If you’d like to learn more, request document
