Q: I know how to get something to start automatically in Windows 3.1 by putting it's icon in the StartUp folder. How do I do it in Windows 95? > Darren, Buffalo NY

A: It's basically the same thing, Darren. All you do is put it in your StartUp folder. Just go to the Start Button, and right-click on it. Click on Open. Now, go to the Programs folder. You'll see the StartUp folder in there. Just drag-n-drop you application on it and you're all set. Likewise, if you want to put a program on your Start button - but don't want it necessarily starting automatically when you load Windows, just drag-n-drop it right on the Start button itself. >Jason

Upgrade Your PC To A Fast 6x86

Are you tired of waiting for your computer? Allow us to recommend a motherboard upgrade. It's like putting a whole new engine in your car - but at a fraction of the cost. We can take your old 486 and upgrade it to a fast new 6x86 (Pentium-class) system for as little as $355. This price includes a new motherboard, processor, and service. If you would like complete details on this offer, please call and request document #706212. There is no obligation.

Q: I recently added a second hard drive and a new ZIP drive to my system, since then, I've had nothing but problems with my hard drives crashing, the clock losing the date, and other related oddities. I've brought the drives back to [the vendor] and they said they're fine. What could be the problem? >Mark, Cheektowaga NY

A: It's probably power. When you upgraded your system, did you upgrade your power supply as well? Most 486 and Pentium systems come with either a 200 or 230 Watt power supply. However, if you're adding lots of drives, you need more juice. I would recommend upgrading your power supply to at least 250 Watts. This would explain your hard drive problems and loss of clock time. >Don

Q: How can I turn page-numbering off in Microsoft Word 6.0?

A: That's not an easy one for most people. There is a nice quick and easy way to turn page-numbering on, but turning it back off is tricky. What Microsoft does is actually place the page number in the header or footer (whichever you choose) of the page. So, to get rid of it, go to View, Header and Footer, and then double-click on the page number. Hit DELete on your keyboard, and bye-bye page number. >Rick
