Fax Services

Amicron offers fax broadcast advertising services to the Western New York (Buffalo) area at a substantially discounted rate. We currently have a database of over 35,000 local area businesses that receive our monthly fax-based newsletter, ComputerFAQs. We can send your fax to our database of fax numbers, or you can provide your own list. In either case, fax broadcast advertising works, and it is a cost-effective alternative to print. If you are interested in setting up a fax campaign, please contact us.

Broadcast Rates

Base Charge (local fax to Buffalo NY, cost per page) - minimum 50 faxes $0.09
Long-distance surcharge (peak, per page, to continental US only) $0.59
Long-distance surcharge (off-peak, per page, to continental US only) $0.39
Long-distance surcharge (international, per page) $2.99
Fax database rental fee (per number) $0.05

For example, if you send a batch of 50 faxes from your fax database to the Buffalo area, the cost is $4.50. If you send the same batch to Dallas TX during off-peak hours, the cost is $24.00. If you want to send a fax to 100 companies in our Buffalo fax database, the cost is $14.00.

Compare $14 to reach 100 businesses with $32 to reach the same businesses with traditional mail - and that doesn't include the cost of printing, envelopes, stuffing, etc.

Q&A

Q: Do you have fax numbers outside of the Buffalo (716) area?

A: Yes, we do, however we have primarily focused our fax marketing efforts to the Buffalo area. Please let us know what area codes you're interested in, and we will let you know how many fax numbers we have in that area.

Q: Are your fax numbers for sale?

A: Absolutely NOT. We do not, under any circumstances, sell our fax numbers. While we will provide fax services to other businesses, we maintain tight control over our fax database so we can properly track fax removals - making sure people who ask us to be removed from the database are no longer faxed to. The only way you can buy the fax database is to buy the whole company. Contact us if you wish to make a proposal.

Q: What kind of fax software do you use?

A: We have built our own, custom, high-volume, in-house fax server software. Yes, it is available for sale, with a minimum $1000 investment - because every solution is unique. Please contact us if you are interested. If you're interested in sending your own faxes, we recommend Symantec WinFax. It's a great program. It doesn't handle high-volume batches well, but it can send several hundred faxes at a time. We used it when we were starting out.

Q: Can you fax to my database of numbers?

A: Yes, we can. If you have a database of fax numbers you would like to transmit to, we can accomodate you. You will pay our rates for long-distance charges, where applicable.

Q: Can you generate a custom database for me?

A: If you're looking to target a specific demographic, such as doctors, lawyers, or manufacturing firms in a particular city, we can generate a custom list for you. Our rates are variable, based on your needs, and start with a minimum $1000 investment. Contact us for more information.

Q: Can you give me any pointers for fax broadcasting?

A: Yes. Whatever you do, resist the urge to send an advertisement. People get junk faxes all the time. If you want yours to be read, and not just tossed in the garbage can, give the recipient something they're going to be interested in. We use a newsletter with a Q&A format. People love getting our newsletter every month because we have helpful articles, tips, and tricks about computers. If you're selling automobiles, for example, give people tips and tricks for auto maintenance. Make the content worth something. A full-page ad will almost never work. Also, keep your fax to one page. Multi-page faxes tend to anger people as a waste of paper.

Q: What is your broadcast capacity?

A: We have the capacity to broadcast roughly 3000 faxes per day.

Q: Is fax broadcasting legal?

A: Yes. New York State General Business Law Article 26, section 396-aa provides allowances for sending unsolicited telefacsimile advertisements - just as telemarketers are allowed their own provisions for sales calls. (You may need to check the regulations in your state or province).

http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?cl=44&a=56

* S 396-aa*. Unsolicited telefacsimile advertising. 1. It shall be unlawful for a person, corporation, partnership or association to initiate the unsolicited transmission of telefacsimile messages promoting goods or services for purchase by the recipient of such messages. For purposes of this section, "telefacsimile" shall mean every process in which electronic signals are transmitted by telephone lines for conversion into written text. This section shall not apply to telefacsimile messages sent to a recipient with whom the initiator has had a prior contractual or business relationship nor shall it apply to transmissions not exceeding five pages received between the hours of 9:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. local time. Notwithstanding the above, it shall be unlawful to initiate any telefacsimile message to a recipient who has previously sent a written or telefacsimile message to the initiator clearly indicating that the recipient does not want to receive telefacsimile messages from the initiator. 2. Any person who has received a telefacsimile transmission in violation of this section may bring an action in his own name to recover his actual damages or one hundred dollars, whichever is greater. * (There are 2 S 396-aa`s)

Q: Is fax broadcasting better than email blasting?

A: This is difficult to say. Certainly there are benefits to faxing: you're providing your clients with a hard-copy, printed piece of material that's more tangible than email. Email has it's benefits: it's almost instantaneous, and people can easily delete it if they don't want it. Both have pros and cons. Both work well, however, and a successful marketing strategy should include both. Amicron can also help you with an email marketing campaign. Contact us for details.
