Microsoft Excel

 
This course covers everything from the basics of getting started with Excel all the way to up some of the more advanced features. In class one, we cover the basics, such as entering data, using AutoFill, basic calculations like Sum and Average, and basic charting and graphing. In the second class, we teach you decision making (If/Then), more advanced charting, and even more functions - we even show you some advanced financial calculations. In the third class, we cover advanced functions, macro programming, workbook security, and much more. If you want to know everything about Excel, this is the course.

PreRequisite: Windows Basics. Students should have a good understanding of how to use Windows, and a computer in general. No prior spreadsheet experience is required. We also recommend our Microsoft Word course before taking this one, as the interface is very similar, however this is not a requirement.

Excel 1: Parts of the Excel interface, Title Bar, Menu Bar, Toolbars, columns and rows, scroll bars, entering data, data, labels, formulas, formatting your spreadsheet, highlighting and selecting cells, alignment, colors, borders, working with calculations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, math order of operations, deleting cells, functions, SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, MIN, inserting rows and columns, cut, copy, paste, paste format, keyboard shortcuts, AutoFill, creating a calendar in Excel using AutoFill, saving and loading workbooks, rounding data, resizing columns and rows, printing, page setup, scaling, margins, headers & footers, sorting data, graphing & charting, column chart, 3D column chart, pie chart, chart formatting, rotating your chart, spell check, find & replace, naming your sheet tabs.

Excel 2: Format cells, conditional statements, IF function, relative v. absolute references, using Named cells and ranges, VLOOKUP function, referencing subtables, referencing data on other sheets, or in other files, password protecting your data, protecting specific data in a sheet, linking data between Excel and Word or other office applications, paste v. embed v. link, freeze panes, splitting your sheet, cell comments, cell formatting, customizing toolbars, MEDIAN, ROUND, NOW functions.

Excel 3: 3D Ranges across multiple sheets, range intersections, arrays, auditing, data grouping, using form controls, drop-down menus, check boxes, autofilter data, pivot tables, macros, loan calculator, optional (time permitting): amortization, advanced graphics & drawing, advanced charting options, advanced macro techniques, advanced financial calculations.
